our Love Story

It all started with one message, one dog, and a shared love for pizza. What followed was laughter, friendship, and the best kind of love story – ours.

WE FIRST MET – THANKS, FACEBOOK DATING!

It all started with a simple message from Alex asking what Laura’s dog’s name was. From there, the conversation flowed effortlessly, and they quickly realized how much they had in common. A shared background in film and video production, a mutual love of video games especially Zelda, and an appreciation for pizza, pasta, and ice cream made it easy to keep talking.

Their first date followed on November 5, 2023, marking the beginning of something truly special.

JUST FRIENDS… KIND OF

Not long after, Laura shared that she wasn’t quite ready to jump into a relationship, and the two decided to take things slow and stay friends.

Even then, it was clear there was something special there.

Before long, they became inseparable — texting, calling, gaming, and spending nearly every day together. Their friends noticed it too. Whatever this was, it was more than just friendship.

OFFICIALLY TOGETHER

By March 2024, they were inseparable, doing everything together. On March 18, 2024, Laura asked Alex to be her boyfriend, and he said yes faster than she could finish the question.

That summer, Alex moved in, and life only grew sweeter from there. From quiet nights at home to spontaneous road trips, every moment felt like another piece of their story falling perfectly into place. Together with Oban, they built a little family filled with laughter, love, and more memories than they could count.

THE PROPOSAL

On March 20, 2025, Alex planned the perfect surprise with a little help from their friend Ryen, who brought Oban to the parking lot of Tailgators. The very spot where Laura and Alex shared their first very awkward kiss.

Nervous and realizing he had not planned exactly what to say, Alex spoke straight from the heart.

“Oban loves you. Oban loves me. And Oban loves you and me together.”

Through laughter and tears, Laura said YES to forever.

Camp Fortune – Chelsea Quebec

We will be celebrating at Camp Fortune in Chelsea, Quebec, a place that holds deep meaning for Laura and feels like the right setting for us to get married.

Alex grew up snowboarding and spent countless winters on the hills. While he has only been to Camp Fortune once, the ski chalet felt like a natural and simple fit for the day.

For Laura, the hill brings back memories of middle school ski trips, having her prom there, and being just up the road from the Carnegie family cottage. But Camp Fortune holds a special place in her heart because of the Mother’s Day brunches she shared there with her mom, Diana, and her late grandmother, Betty Anne.

It feels like the perfect place to bring those memories together as we start this next chapter, surrounded by the people we love most.
